The acclaimed God of War is now optimized for Playstation 5. With an update released in early February, the game gets 4K support at 60 frames per second on the new game console.
Previously, God of War ran the non-optimized, standard version of Playstation 4 and 4 Pro. Admittedly with a more stable frame rate, but without all the benefits that the more powerful hardware in the Playstation 5 offers.

With the update installed, you can enjoy a stable 60 frames per second for a smooth and comfortable image display. The resolution is up to 4K – without you having to lower the frame rate.
With that said, it is possible to set enable a setting called “Original Performance Experience”. It locks the game to just 30 frames per second to simulate the feel of the Playstation 4 Pro if you will.
An interesting detail on the whole is that players with God of War on record could actually run 4K / 60fps if they were disconnected from the internet, or just prevented the game from being updated.
The reason is that the game developer Santa Monica Studio had unlocked the frame rate from the beginning. This was later changed with an update that resolved inconsistent performance on the slower Playstation 4 console.
