Corning launches new camera protection in modern mobile phones. Gorilla Glass, which normally sits on the screen to protect against scratches, will soon be offered to mobile manufacturers who also want to protect the cameras.

This is Gorilla Glass with DX and DX +
Corning launches a new, improved protection that increases scratch resistance and reduces the risk of damage to the glass of the cameras in new mobile phones.
The new protection comes in two variants – Gorilla Glass with DX and Gorilla Glass with DX +.
Both are designed to protect the cameras from scratches and bumps, but without affecting the light. The protective glass must also be designed to reduce diffraction and not affect the end result at all.
According to Corning, Gorilla Glass with DX and Gorilla Glass with DX + can make the cameras let through 98 percent of all light. This is due to anti-reflective properties that allow more light to penetrate the glass than with traditional glass protection.
What distinguishes DX + from DX is that the latter has a rope protection that is more reminiscent of traditional Gorilla Glass while DX + is a bit sharper at that point.
Corning even says that Gorilla Glass with DX + is almost as scratch-resistant as the sapphire crystal that Apple has for the cameras in the iPhone and iPad series.

Samsung is the first to use Gorilla Glass with DX and DX +
South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung will be the first to release a mobile phone that uses the new protective glass from Corning.
It is not official which mobile phone will be the first with the new safety glass.
Samsung was the first manufacturer to use Gorilla Glass DX in another, earlier version for smartwatches. Then on the Galaxy Watch from 2018, so it is not entirely surprising that the camera protection is also first out on a Samsung phone.
Before the first, independent tests appear, we do not know if Gorilla Glass with DX and DX + actually live up to Corning’s claims. The article will be updated with more information when we receive the first results.
