LG Ultragear – new screens with Nano IPS panel

LG Ultragear GP850

A sharp screen is a must to maximize the gaming experience. LG states this and believes that the company’s new Ultragear series will deliver just that.

LG’s OLED TVs have earned high marks in our tests. The latest models are really nice for sports, movies and games, but even if the manufacturer has now launched “smaller” OLED variants under 50 inches, a pure computer screen is probably a better choice for many. The manufacturer’s latest additions on that front are called LG Ultragear GP950 and GP850.

LG Ultragear with Nano IPS panel

The new screens are Nano IPS models that are available in sizes 34 and 27 inches respectively. The 34-inch GP950 series, 34GP950G, is a curved model in 21: 9 format with a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 pixels. The 27-inch, 27GP950, is a 16: 9 screen with 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160 pixels).

Both models support the Vesa DisplayHDR 600 and Nvidia G-Sync.

The response time is one millisecond and the refresh rate is 144 hertz. The latter can be overclocked to 180 hertz.
The LG Ultragear 27GP950 also supports AMD Freesync Premium Pro.

On the connection side, we find two HDMI ports, a Displayport 1.4 and three USB 3.0 ports. Note that the 34GP950G supports HDMI 2.0 and 27GP950 2.1. The latter can also be fully calibrated on its own thanks to the LG Calibration Studio.

We also find two models in the GP850 series. Here, 27 and 32 inches apply, with a response time of one millisecond. Here the frequency is 165 hertz (O / C 180 hertz) and the resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. The 27GP850 supports the Vesa DisplayHDR 400 while the 32GP850 supports the HDR10.

Both Ultragear GP850 monitors are Nvidia G-Sync compatible and support AMD Freesync. (Premium for the 32-inch and Premium Pro for the 27-inch).

Launch and price

The LG Ultragear GP850 and the 34-inch GP950G will be launched during the second quarter with approximate prices of SEK 5,890, SEK 6,990, and SEK 15,990, respectively. The LG 27GP950 will not be launched until the second half of the year. It is expected to cost just under SEK 10,000.

Feel free to write a comment about which model (s) you want us to borrow for a test once they arrive in Sweden.
