Tonight, Apple finally released the long-awaited update for macOS Big Sur 11.2 for all users. Previously, three Release Candidate versions of the update had already been distributed to the registered developers. These versions are usually identical to the final version, unless even larger construction sites are discovered, which was obviously the case in this case.

The last update of the RC could have taken care of fixing a security hole in a Unix command. The update to macOS Big Sur 11.2 can be initiated as usual in the system settings in the software update area. If it is not shown to all of you already, be patient. The update will be rolled out in waves and may not be available on all computers yet.

macOS Big Sur 11.2 resolves issues with Bluetooth and external displays

The update to macOS Big Sur 11.2 fixes a problem that could occur when using external displays on some Macs, which could then remain black.

It also fixes an issue that could cause Bluetooth to not work properly. The update to macOS Big Sur 11.3 also fixes issues related to the correct synchronization of iCloud Drive folders.

Innovations in detail

Apple notes the following when updating to macOS Big Sur 11.2:

macOS Big Sur 11.2 improves the reliability of Bluetooth and addresses the following issues:
• External displays may show a black screen when connected to a Mac mini (M1, 2020) via an HDMI to DVI converter.
• Edits to Apple ProRAW photos may not be saved in the Photos app.
• iCloud Drive can be deactivated after switching off the iCloud Drive option “‘Desktop’ & ‘Documents’ folder”.
• Unlocking the system settings may fail even if you enter an administrator password.
• Pressing the globe button may not open the “Emojis & Symbols” area.
