The pharmaceutical giant Merck stops producing a vaccine against covid-19 reports media in the United States. Merck’s trials with the company’s vaccine candidates V590 and V591 have not been able to demonstrate efficacy that is even close to the protection created by the body’s own immune system in the event of a natural infection, the company announces.
The Wall Street Journal writes that instead of covid vaccines, Merck will invest in covid drugs.
Merck admits that it takes years to develop a vaccine.
