Nest WiFi supports real-time monitoring of bandwidth usage

Do you use Google Nest WiFi at home?
Then it’s time to update the Home app on your phone – because Google has added a new feature that provides real-time data on network traffic.

What this means is that you can now see how much bandwidth is being consumed in the home network. Both in real time and with different time intervals (1 day, 7 days, 30 days).

And it’s not just for the total consumption, but you can also see individual units. Perfect if you want to troubleshoot or are just curious about which gadgets are most active in the web.

Another, minor news is that the app now shows the last 15 speed tests instead of just six tests.

To get the news for Nest WiFi, you must use Home 2.34 or later on your mobile. You update to the latest version via Google Play Store or Apple App Store as usual.

It is also worth mentioning that Home 2.34 adds support for the second generation Nest Hub. Here is the official description of the new version:

  • Get more statistics about Google Wifi and Nest Wifi devices with the new usage and speed charts. Keep track of how much data is used in the network and see a real-time view of upload and download traffic for the entire network and each device in it.
  • Choose the types of events you want to see in the home flow. Get started by tapping the icon at the top left of the home flow.
