Have you installed newer games on your Playstation 5 and wondered why the PS4 version was installed and not the one for PS5? You are far from alone, and there is a simple reason (and solution).
A bug in the software for Playstation 5 causes the wrong version of the Playstation games to be installed if there are two variants, both for PS4 and PS5. This means that the game is not as visually appealing or performance-optimized as it should be on your new, expensive game console.

Hardly what you could wish for, but thankfully Sony has finally found a solution. And with a new update that takes the software to version 20.02-02.50.00, the gaming giant has fixed the problem that the wrong version is installed on new game consoles.
It is not the only improvement you get (but the biggest). Sony also lists improved system performance and support for selecting / editing videos in Share Factory Studio directly from the media gallery.
Improved system performance does not mean you get massive speed improvements. However, it can mean small percentage optimizations here and there, but probably something you never notice in practice.
Here is the complete change log for version 20.02-02.50.00:
- This system software update improves system performance.
- In rare cases, the PS4 version of a game would install from the disc after you upgraded to and installed the PS5 version. Now, when you insert the PS4 game disc, the PS4 version will not install unexpectedly.
- You can now select and edit video clips using Share Factory Studio from your media gallery.
