Stop apps that track you in iOS 14.5 – so do you

Now you can stop apps from tracking you on your iPhone. With App Tracking Transparency introduced in iOS 14.5, you can easily choose which (if any at all) apps are allowed to track you outside the app.

Apps are constantly trying to understand who you are and what you do on the internet. The goal is to be able to create targeted ads that entice you to click on the ads so that they make money. And that’s something Apple does not like.

Therefore, the company added a new setting with which you can block apps from tracking what you do. And thus it is more difficult to target ads.

How to block apps from tracking you

Go to Settings> Privacy> Tracking. Here you can enable or disable the Allow apps to request tracking feature.

  • Activated: Each time an app wants to track you, you will get a dialog box where you can select YES or NO to tracking.
  • Disabled: Apps are not allowed to track you or even ask for permission. The safest option simply.

Note that the feature is disabled by default with iOS 14.5.

It’s also important to point out that Apple can’t stop apps and developers from tracking you outside their ecosystem with iPhones and iPads.
