If you use Windows 10 21H2, you get support for up to 5 years


Microsoft wants users to understand how important it is for Windows 10 to continue to have in-house support even after Windows 11 is released. Therefore, Microsoft is now announcing how long you can expect updates to Windows 10 in the future.

Windows 10 21H2 focuses on quality and bug fixes

Windows 10 21H2 is currently being tested by Windows Insiders members ahead of the upcoming launch later this year.

The update has no major news that can attract users, but the focus is on quality and bug fixes that will make life a little better for everyone with Windows 10 on the computer.

And when Windows 11 is released, you can expect to continue receiving updates in the future as well.

Up to five years after the release of Windows 10 21H2 actually if we are to believe Microsoft. But for the vast majority, that time will be significantly shorter.

Up to 5 years with updates to Windows 10 21H2

Windows 10 21H2 is scheduled to be released sometime during the second half of 2021.

When the update is released, 18, 30 and 60 months are promised with official support from Microsoft. Depending on the version and license of Windows 10 you are using.

  • Windows 10 21H2 Home and Pro: 18 months
  • Windows 10 21H2 Enterprise and Education: 30 months
  • Windows 10 21H2 LTSC: 60 months

Windows 10 21H2 LTSC is a special version called “Long-Term Servicing Channel”Which is aimed at companies with requirements for a very long service period with updates. It is thus not a licensing model that suits ordinary users.

18 months is enough time for those who do not want to switch to Windows 11 immediately when the operating system is released. If it is even possible to change directly because the new operating system is probably only available on OEM machines immediately at launch.
