Incorrect WiFi name is dangerous for your iPhone

[ad_1]

Wrong WiFi name can cause your iPhone to stop working with WiFi at all. This was noted by Twitter user Carl Schou, whose iPhone connected to a WiFi called “% p% s% s% s% s% s% n”.

  • May force factory reset or network reset
  • Created an endless connection loop to the router
  • Several crash bugs in iOS in recent years

Forced to factory reset the mobile phone

When Carl Schou connected his iPhone to a WiFi network with “% p% s% s% s% s% n“He noticed that the mobile phone was starting to show strange behavior.

The WiFi connection became unstable and ended up in an endless loop with connection and disconnection to the router.

The only way Carl could break the endless loop was by factory resetting the cell phone. Not the worst that could happen, but of course it’s not very fun.

Another Twitter user believes that Carl could have solved the problem by simply resetting the network settings. However, there is no confirmed information about it at the time of writing.

Nor is it clear why Carl named the WiFi something as strange as “% p% s% s% s% s% n” from the beginning.

Not the first controversy over the iPhone and WiFi

Apple has had some controversy over WiFi on their mobile phones.

In December 2020, security researchers identified vulnerabilities in iOS that caused that the cell phones were vulnerable over WiFi.

And the WiFi bug is not the first to make iPhones around the world behave strangely. In 2017, a serious bug was found in iOS that caused that Messenger could crash with a simple file.

In 2016, video files could crash iOS with ease. Bugs are not uncommon in operating systems, and thankfully Apple has not forced its users to put up with particularly many.
