Microsoft is expected to hold an online event about the Surface series in the spring of 2021. One of the big points will be the Surface Laptop 4, but we may also see several smaller announcements during the event.
One such could be a new webcam. According to a new report, it is adapted for the Surface series, supports resolutions up to 1080p and has HDR support.

What we do not know, however, is whether the webcam supports Windows Hello or not.
If the report is correct, this is not the first Microsoft webcam. The company’s LifeCam series has models dating back to 2006 and they stopped being manufactured around 2011.
In fact, you can still buy two of the models – LifeCam Studio and LifeCam HD-3000. At least if you buy them directly from Microsoft.
According to Petri.com who released the report, Microsoft should feel that it is the right time to reach out with a new webcam. We ourselves think that the right time had already been in February or March last year when the corona pandemic caused all stocks of webcams to run out.
In March 2020, the webcams had on Prisjakt increased in popularity by 645 percent compared to earlier in January. At the same time, prices increased by as much as 25 percent.
Maybe Microsoft feels it’s time to release a new webcam when Razer recently unveiled it Kiyo Pro. A 1080p model with a new and powerful camera sensor.
