Fake version of MSI Afterburner spreads malware

Are you using MSI Afterburner to view information on your graphics card and overclock performance? Be careful how you find the program – a fake version is used to spread malware.

It is the manufacturer MSI themselves who goes out with an official warning about the fake Afterburner version. By using MSI’s trademark, cybercriminals want to spread malicious code to careless Internet users.

“The fraudulent website imitates MSI’s official webpage appearance and design, and offers downloads for MSI’s Afterburner. This webpage is hosting software which may contain virus, trojan, keylogger, or other type of malicious program that have been disguised to look like MSI Afterburner. DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANY SOFTWARE FROM THIS WEBSITE. ”

MSI Afterburner is used to overclock or underclock graphics cards from all manufacturers, not from MSI. It’s a free tool that is available to everyone via MSI’s official website.
