To see if your computer can use Windows 11

Do you have a computer running Windows 10 and are wondering if you can update to Windows 11? Microsoft has an official tool to help you see if you can update when the new version is released.

  • Computer Health Check is free and an official Microsoft app
  • Will be updated with bug fixes and better compatibility checks
  • Available on Microsoft’s website to download today for Windows 10

The free tool Computer Health Check gives you better control

The free Computer Health Check tool for Windows 10 gives you an immediate indication of whether your computer supports Windows 11 or not.

Here’s how to use Computer Health Check today:

  1. Go to this page on Microsoft’s official website
  2. Scroll down to “Check Compatibility”
  3. Click on DOWNLOAD THE APP (or use this link)
  4. Install Computer Health Check on your computer

Once the app is installed in Windows 10, you will get an immediate indication of whether there are steps that need to be taken before Windows 11 can be installed.

In our case, Computer Health Check means that we have to log in to our Microsoft account (even though we already are according to the app itself) to be compatible with Windows 11.

This does not feel quite right considering what components we have in the computer…

Our gaming computer has an AMD Ryzen 5800X processor, an RTX 3080 from Asus and 32 GB of RAM. We have the latest Windows 10 and are logged in to our Microsoft account – and yet our computer is not compatible with Windows 11.

It is probably a bug in the app that causes us to be blocked in this case.

Official requirements for running Windows 11

  • Processor: 1 GHz dual-core processor (64-bit)
  • FRAME: At least 4 GB of RAM
  • Storage: 64 GB free space
  • Screen: At least 9-inch screen in 1,366 x 768 pixels
  • Motherboard: Support for UEFI, Secure Boot and TPM 2.0
  • DirectX: DirectX 12 compatible graphics card / WDDM 2.x
